Non-Emergency Medical Transport
Dashcams built for NEMT
Road-facing and driver-facing dashcams, a third camera wherever the vehicle needs it, and the fleet software behind them. Win the disputed trip, document how every passenger was secured, and keep standing orders running on time. Built and installed by our own team in California since 2007.
Why Dashcams
What a Dashcam Actually Changes for an NEMT Operator
Medical transport carries a passenger who is often frail, a broker who controls the revenue, and an insurer watching every claim. Without footage, all three disputes are your word against theirs.
Win the Disputed Claim
Without video it is the driver's word against the rider's. Footage from inside and outside the vehicle shows what actually happened.
Lower Your Insurance Premium
Carriers price on loss history and driver behavior. Cameras and coaching give you a record to bring to the table.
Stop Paying for Bad Driving
Alerts on hard braking, speeding, and idling. Less fuel, fewer repairs, fewer accidents, and a smoother ride for the passenger.
Real-Time Fleet Tracking
Live location for every vehicle on one screen. Less time on the phone finding out where someone is.
Dashcam Coverage
Coverage Built Around How NEMT Vehicles Actually Work
Road-facing coverage for the crash, driver-facing coverage for the allegation, and a third camera in the cabin for securement and lift operation.
Road-Facing Camera
The forward view that settles what happened in front of the vehicle: the cut-off, the light, the following distance, the impact.
- Continuous forward recording
- Footage tied to the incident that triggered it
- Context for every harsh-braking alert
- Evidence that clears drivers, not just catches them
Driver-Facing Camera
When a passenger or a family member alleges distracted or unsafe driving, the driver-facing camera is the only thing that can answer the question either way.
- Distraction alerts
- Speeding and harsh-event detection
- Driver scoring on speed, braking, and acceleration
- The answer when a rider alleges unsafe driving
A Third Camera, Wherever You Need It
Our dashcams support an additional camera beyond the road-facing and driver-facing pair. In NEMT that camera usually goes in the passenger cabin, because securement and lift operation are where the injury claims come from.
- Wheelchair securement documented per trip
- Lift and ramp operation on record
- Door and boarding activity
- Or placed anywhere else the vehicle needs it
Recording, Retention & Remote Access
Every camera feeds one AI-capable in-vehicle unit built for mobile use. It records continuously, survives the vibration and temperature swings of a working vehicle, and connects to TracFleet.
- Multi-camera recording on one unit
- Extended retention, up to 60 days
- Remote access without pulling the vehicle in
- Professional in-house installation
Trip Verification
Answer a Broker Denial With a Record, Not an Argument
Trip disputes are the clearest place cameras pay for themselves in NEMT. Every trip leaves a location record, a time record, and video you can pull weeks later without touching the vehicle.
GPS-Timestamped Arrival
Every trip carries a location and time record. When a broker says the vehicle never showed, you have the coordinates and the clock.
Remote Footage Pull
Retrieve video from the DVR without taking the vehicle off the road or sending someone to the yard with a hard drive.
Retention Up To 60 Days
Trip disputes and claims rarely surface the same week. Extended retention means the footage is still there when the denial arrives.
Semantic Video Search
Search hours of footage by description instead of scrubbing timelines to find one pickup on one afternoon.
Passenger Privacy
Recording in the Cabin, Handled Deliberately
Interior cameras in NEMT record people on their way to and from medical care. That deserves a straight answer rather than a badge, so here is exactly what the system does and does not do.
Fixed Retention Window
Footage is kept for a set period and then rolls off. It is not archived indefinitely by default.
Retrieved On Request
Cabin video is pulled when there is a reason to pull it: an incident, a claim, a disputed trip. It is not casually browsed.
No Continuous Cabin Streaming
The interior camera records to the DVR. It is not a live feed anyone can open and watch on a whim.
Access You Control
You decide which of your staff can retrieve footage, and every retrieval is a deliberate action rather than an open door.
We provide the equipment and the controls around it. Passenger notification, retention policy, and who inside your organization is allowed to view footage remain your decisions, and we will configure the system to match what your program and your counsel require.
TracFleet
The Operational Side: Routes, Standing Orders, and On-Time Performance
TracFleet is our fleet management platform. It connects to the installed DVR and gives dispatchers and managers a live view of where every vehicle is and what happened on every run.
Standing Orders & Recurring Runs
Dialysis three times a week, standing appointments, regular discharges. Recurring work is where on-time performance is won or lost.
On-Time Performance
Live vehicle positions and historical route playback let you see where the schedule actually slipped instead of guessing after the fact.
Live Dispatch & Driver Comms
Two-way communication between dispatcher and driver, so a will-call or an added pickup does not require a chain of phone calls.
Route Optimization
Build and optimize routes to cut fuel and deadhead miles, and absorb added stops without unravelling the rest of the day.
Ride Quality Alerts
Harsh braking and hard cornering are a comfort and safety issue when the passenger is post-operative, elderly, or on dialysis. Those events are flagged.
Incident Review From The Office
Pull up the vehicle, the time, and the footage from one place when something needs answering today.
FAQ
NEMT Camera Questions We Get Asked
Are dashcams required in NEMT vehicles?
Requirements vary by state, by Medicaid program, and increasingly by the broker contract itself, so there is no single national answer. What has changed is expectation rather than mandate: many NEMT contracts and insurers now assume recorded video exists. We can walk through what your specific contracts and vehicle types call for on a demo call.
What does the dashcam actually include?
A road-facing camera and a driver-facing camera in one unit, plus support for a third camera placed wherever the vehicle needs it. In NEMT that third camera usually covers the passenger cabin, so wheelchair securement and lift operation are on record. All of it records to one AI-capable in-vehicle unit that connects to TracFleet.
Can we record inside the vehicle when we are transporting patients?
Interior recording in NEMT is common, and it is also the part operators think hardest about. Our role is the equipment and the controls around it: a fixed retention window, footage retrieved only when there is a reason to retrieve it, no continuous cabin streaming, and access limited to the staff you designate. How you disclose recording to passengers and what your own program and counsel require is your call, and we will configure the system to fit it.
How do we use footage to fight a broker no-show or trip denial?
When a trip is disputed, you pull the footage and the GPS record for that vehicle at that time. Together they show whether the vehicle was at the address and how long it waited. Because footage is retrieved remotely and retention runs up to 60 days, you can usually answer a denial that arrives weeks after the trip.
How long is footage kept?
Up to 60 days of extended retention, depending on how the system is configured for your fleet. That window matters in NEMT specifically, because claims and trip denials often arrive well after the trip itself.
Does the camera cover the wheelchair lift and securement?
That is what the third camera position is for. Placed in the passenger cabin, it documents how the wheelchair was secured and how the lift or ramp was operated on that trip, which is the record you want when an injury claim comes back months later.
What does installation involve?
Our own team does the installation, along with repairs and maintenance visits. We build the hardware and the software, so there is one number to call rather than a camera vendor pointing at a software vendor. We have been doing this for California fleets since 2007.
Will dashcams lower our insurance premium?
We will not promise a number, because your premium depends on your carrier, your loss history, and your fleet. What dashcams change is the underlying facts carriers price on: footage that resolves a disputed claim instead of settling it, and driver-behavior data you can use to coach before an incident happens. Ask your carrier what they credit for recorded video and driver monitoring.
